2012 SENIOR EXPO

2012 SENIOR EXPO

Helping You Navigate the Transitions of Aging

Salt Lake City LIVING WELL Magazine

Exploring your options, learning about new opportunities and connecting with existing community resources – these are the three over-arching themes for this year’s Senior Expo.

For over a decade, Salt Lake County Aging Services has been proud to host Utah’s largest gathering of hospitals, healthcare providers, private, public and non-profit organizations. Over the years, seniors, their family members and caregivers have benefited from the many resources the Expo affords, all of which are easily accessed under one roof.

This year will be no different! Seniors can still expect a pressure-free experience where convenient access to products, services and resources help them obtain the knowledge and assistance necessary to lead healthy, independent lives. Family members and caregivers will have peace of mind knowing that professionals at the Expo will provide the necessary tools that enable them to support their loved ones.

As the dynamics of aging evolves, the Senior Expo is adapting to an ever-changing, more active senior population. So while attendees at this year’s Expo can still expect popular mainstays like free admission, free health screenings, Medicare assistance and great prize giveaways – including a $1,000 gift card, they can also look forward to a more interactive, hands-on experience giving attendees the tools they need to continue living healthy, active lives.

The Emergency Preparedness Pavilion, where you will learn how to safeguard your family in case of an emergency, the “Scoop out Fraud” Summit, where we will delve into all aspects of Medicare and financial fraud and local rehabilitation and retirement communities showcasing their fabulous culinary talents in our Cooking Pavilion are just some of the new attractions this year.

Risk assessment modules, IASIS Healthcare’s family of hospitals, clinics and doctors’ and Intermountain Healthcare’s interactive health seminars, Medicare updates for 2013, topics covering legal and mental health issues, and educational seminars such as AARP’s “Protecting Social Security and Medicare,” are just some of the returning events this year.

But wait, there’s more! In addition to a vast array of exhibitors, sponsors, seminars, activities, entertainment, drawings, products and services, this year’s informative and fun Expo features the FamilySearch Pavilion, showing you timesaving easy ways to search for your ancestors and the Columbus Travel Pavilion, where you will learn about exciting travel adventures that await you.

And last, but not least, the Senior Expo will be held on Thursday, October 4, from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday, October 5, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., in Halls 4 and 5 at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 South State Street, Sandy, Utah.
