BrainCore Therapy Combats Aging and a Myriad of Neurological Disorders without Medication

As we age, the ultimate silent disease is the sub-optimal functioning of the brain.  Cognitive health and optimal brain function go hand-in-hand with physical health.  Neurologically based conditions including insomnia, memory loss, chronic pain, migraines, post stroke issues, anxiety and more can be helped – even reversed – without medication or invasive action. BrainCore Therapy is a form of EEG Biofeedback treating Neurological Dysregulation Syndrome that is associated with many brain-based conditions. “We are excited to offer this cutting-edge technology,” says Dr. Wittrig.  “BrainCore enables us to give clients a new lease on life. Our goal is to help people in our community improve their quality of life. We also offer Anti-Aging and Peak Performance Programs.”

Using a non-invasive, EEG device, electrical impulses, known as brainwaves, are analyzed while the client performs several tasks such as reading or watching TV. Ideally, the brain should use different brainwaves for different tasks. If the brain cannot produce the needed brainwave it will use an alternate, less efficient wave to complete the task.  It is like taking the scenic route to the store instead of the direct route: Effective, but not efficient. Over time this inefficient wave becomes dominant, causing changes in outward behavior, often producing negative physical and psychological symptoms. Just as an inefficient golf swing or tennis stroke can be practiced, brainwaves can be used inefficiently. BrainCore is a program that identifies the dysregulated patterns, and provides training on how to produce the correct brainwave patterns. Simply put, it is exercise for the brain. Once the proper brainwaves are being produced in the best ratio, a reduction or elimination of the negative symptoms usually follows.

During a typical training session, surface sensors are placed on the scalp and brainwave activity is monitored by a computer as the patient reclines and watches a DVD or plays a game. If the correct brainwaves are produced, the movie or game will play; if the mind wanders, the computer detects the change and the movie or game will pause. Our brains have the ability to adapt and open new neural pathways allowing for more efficient lines of communication to be created. Once the changes take place, the effects are permanent.

Partners, Dr. Erin Wittrig and Leanne O’Neil host informational meetings at their office. “Having had to travel out of state for a family member to receive this life changing program, I am thrilled to offer BrainCore Therapy locally,” says O’Neil.
