It can be painful to watch your elderly parents struggle to live independently at home. But you can make their lives more comfortable and safe – while you allow them to maintain their independence – by modifying their home to include a stair lift or a walk-in bathtub. Rest easy at night knowing they are in a safer environment!
If your parents have a bathtub in which they cannot enter and exit without lifting their legs, then you may consider having a walk-in bathtub installed. This allows your elderly parents to walk directly into the tub, to sit down on the slip-resistant tub seating, to wash comfortably and then to lift themselves to a standing position using installed shower wall safety bars. Showering will be much safer than bathing in a standard bathtub, and you can worry less knowing that your parents are less likely to fall while bathing. The walk-in tub features a 17-inch high seat that makes it easy and safe for your parents to get up and down. In addition, your parents will have a comfortable bathing experience with the walk-in bathtub’s hydrojet system, in-line heater, soft pillow headrest and handheld showerhead.
In addition, you may consider having a stair lift installed should your elderly parents live in a home with cumbersome flights of stairs. A stair lift is a mechanical modification to traditional stairs, in which your parents will sit on a motorized seat that is mounted on the wall opposite the stair railing. They will operate a control panel that moves them up and down the stairs. Installing a stair lift will not cause any structural damage to your home, and an engineer will mount and secure the stair lift to help ensure its safety. When the stair lift is not in use, your parents can fold up the chair against the wall to keep it out of the way for visitors who need to walk up and down the stairs.
Give your elderly parents the gift of independence and the confidence to continue living full lives by installing a stair lift or walk-in bathtub into their home today. You will have peace of mind knowing that they are living comfortably and safely while you are not there!
