Winter Remodel Projects

Winter is a good time to tackle some of those remodeling projects that you have been putting off or planning for the last few years.
When the family and friends were visiting for the holidays, did you wish you had an extra or updated bath? Converting an existing tub to a tub /shower unit could make a lot of sense. Maybe it’s become harder to step over those tub sides.
A new shower unit with a seat and sturdy grab bars installed would make bathing safer. Comfort height toilets are easier to use. The newer vanities are a few inches taller so there is less bending required. Better lighting in the bathroom is also more important as we age.
For the ultimate in bath remodel projects, consider a walk-in tub. The deep soaking tub with jets will soothe those aching joints and relax you for a good night sleep. It will give you the independence of bathing alone if physical problems make that an issue.
Maybe you’ve been dreaming of an updated kitchen for years. Are the appliances on their last leg? Is the layout just not efficient? Are the cabinets 40 years old, built with the house and very tired looking? Winter is a good time to plan a kitchen remodel. Give serious thought about how you use your kitchen. Everyone could benefit with efficient drawers storage or roll out shelves for access to pots and pans. Getting down to those bottom shelves is hard enough, but getting up can be downright embarrassing! Pull out trash units are very popular. A qualified kitchen designer can help you make the most of every inch of your space.
Re-facing your existing cabinets with new doors, replacing countertops and hardware may be a less expensive and less messy alternative while giving the most used room in the house a nice face lift.
Now is the time to visit your remodeling contractor to get an idea of what your dream project will involve. Whatever is involved will be a great investment in the value of your home and lifestyle.
