Maravilla Scottsdale offers resort retirement living at its finest

When Tim Cowen goes to work each morning, he knows his day will be filled with conversations that include the words beautiful, spectacular and breathtaking. As executive director of North Scottsdale’s new resort retirement community Maravilla Scottsdale, much of his day is spent showing prospective residents the lifestyle and amenities available for their enjoyment.

“The reaction of the people who come to see Maravilla Scottsdale for the first time is priceless,” Cowen says. “They just can’t believe how beautiful it is. They’ve never seen anything like it.”

Situated on 25 acres adjacent to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and Tournament Players Club (TPC) Stadium Course, the community offers a mix of 39 casitas and 118 courtyard homes for independent living, as well as 36 assisted living and 24 memory care (Alzheimer’s/dementia) residences.

Maravilla Scottsdale surrounds its residents with a sophisticated blend of Arizona comfort and style reflected in its Spanish Colonial architecture and extraordinary spaces that effortlessly blend indoor and outdoor living. Spacious and lushly landscaped courtyard plazas are dotted with outdoor fireplaces and fountains. Elegant, contemporary interiors are washed in warm, earthy shades and accented by hand-made tiling, dramatic vaulted ceilings with wooden beams and one-of-a-kind artwork to create a luxurious, welcoming ambiance.

Elaine Shower of Carefree says that she and her husband Bob saw immediately that the community is not only a spectacular setting in which to enjoy retirement, but also offers an approach to senior living that goes beyond the ordinary by providing a backdrop in which residents can live life to the fullest.  “We’re going to be pampered for the rest of our lives in a five-start resort,” she says.

The couple says they are looking forward to enjoying the community’s host of recreational amenities, which include a spacious, resort-style spa, a movie theater, a state-of-the-art fitness center with multiple fitness rooms, and spectacular indoor swimming pool. The community also offers multiple restaurants. The Ironwood Grille, Café del Sol and Bistro Bar provide a host of dining options for courtyard and casita residents, while the Sonoran Restaurant caters to assisted living residents.

Jim and Laura Herbster viewed the community prior to its completion and have been planning a move from their existing Scottsdale home. “Jim and I took a tour of Maravilla and it is beautiful,” Laura Herbster says. “We needed to see what the finished product looked like and we were impressed. We are so excited about the possibility of living there.”

Developed and operated by Senior Resource Group (SRG), Maravilla Scottsdale is the seventh SRG community in Arizona. Located throughout the U.S. each of SRG’s 17 award-winning, one-of-a-kind senior living communities are unique to their destination, with a character inspired by the local cultural and physical surroundings and the amenities of a fine resort. Health and wellbeing care services are available for residents when needed and, as testament to the quality of care offered, SRG proudly holds three-year accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) at each of its eligible communities.

In a unique partnership with Scottsdale Healthcare, Maravilla Scottsdale residents can choose to utilize health and wellness services only steps from their homes through a private, on-campus clinic operated independently and staffed by the healthcare organization. The clinic provides a full-time registered nurse, case management services, preventative and diagnostic care, routine screenings, immunizations, travel medication arrangements, and emergency and triage care. In addition, the clinic provides a program of health and wellness seminars on a range of topics.

As an added benefit to residents, Maravilla Scottsdale has teamed with Scottsdale Healthcare and the neighboring Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort to create the Platinum Club Alliance. The program provides access to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess’ Fairmont FIRST VIP program, which offers a variety of benefits and services. In addition, the Platinum Club Alliance provides a host of benefits through Scottsdale Healthcare.

“It’s a very exciting time. Our prospective residents can’t wait to move in,” Cowen says. “They have the assurance of knowing that care is here for them if they should ever need it but in the meantime, this fantastic location, our incredible amenities and friendships with their new neighbors are waiting to be enjoyed.”
