“In 2004, we recognized that many homebound patients were not getting the quality medical care they needed,” noted MD2U founder Dr. Michael Benfield. “That was the beginning of MD2U. We now provide everything from routine checkups to lab work, x-rays, EKGs and ultrasounds, and it’s all provided in-home.”
The response to the MD2U concept has been phenomenal. Over 25,000 house calls were made in 2010, and MD2U’s house calls have doubled every year since its inception.
MD2U’s unique program helps patients live independently longer, with fewer emergency room visits and hospitalizations. MD2U also helps delay the need for skilled nursing home placement. MD2U services are covered by Medicare and most insurance plans.
