The fully comprehensive spine centers of Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® include a team of highly trained, spine-focused physicians who specialize in minimally invasive spine surgery, pain management, and physical therapy and chiropractic care. A nationally acclaimed center, Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® focuses the practice solely on a high level of patient cared in treating spinal disorders with minimally invasive procedures and in managing acute and chronic pain from back, neck and nerve related conditions of the spine.

“At Minimally Invasive SpineCARE®, our patients’ long-term health and wellness is our first priority,” says Dr. Douglas Won, founder of the spine center. “When treating patients, we explore innovative, non-surgical options first. If surgery is necessary, we utilize the least invasive procedures possible.”

Compared to traditional open spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery allows for laser incisions as small as 3mm (the size of a large grain of rice) that go between muscles instead of cutting them. This means less tissue damage and blood loss and a faster recovery time. Using the latest in minimally invasive techniques and paving the way for a more patient focused level of care, the founder, Dr. Won, has been credited as the first surgeon in North Texas to perform a minimally invasive spine surgery using only a 3mm incision.

Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® is not only a pioneer in spinal surgery, but also specializes in non-surgical spine focused pain management with a uniquely designed process called pain mapping. Various spinal conditions can cause nerve endings to become pinched, or irritated, and the source of pain can be difficult to find using imaging such as MRIs, or CTs scans. The Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® Pain Mapping spinal procedure, done by the uniquely trained, highly qualified team of physicians, is done with the most up-to-date equipment using advanced techniques to pinpoint and isolate the precise pain in the neck and back. This is done by injecting luminescent medication and using an X-Ray to pinpoint the nerve causing pain, in a systematic process called nerve blocking.

The Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® team is comprised of some of the nation’s most advanced and highly trained back and neck experts––100% of its surgeons are fellowship-trained spine specialists. They have helped create some of the industry’s most innovative spine surgery tools and procedures, such as the NIP Procedure™––the Non-Invasive Pain or No-Incision Pain Procedure, and also incorporated Adult Stem Cell Therapy into the practice to aid in the healing process and reduction of pain due to arthritic conditions.

The NIP Procedure™ (Non Invasive, or No Incision Pain Procedure) offers many advantages over traditionally prescribed pain medications for relieving post operative or long-term chronic and acute pain. While medications are effective, they have brain-altering effects, which require modification of daily routines. Additionally, there are often uncomfortable, possibly, life-threatening side effects that need to be considered. Due to the fact that acute and chronic pain sufferers have different needs, the NIP Procedure™ can be customized for individual patients. The initial application is designed to immediately mitigate pain and provide early relief. Additional treatments are then adapted toward addressing each patient’s needs. It was created for patients who suffer from chronic pain including upper and lower back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, sciatica, cervical/neck pain, joint pain, cancer pain and migraines, and FDA cleared for the treatment of acute and chronic pain. This amazing medical breakthrough provides a non-drug treatment of acute and chronic pain with no side effects! Furthermore, the NIP Procedure™ increases circulation and oxygenation of the blood about 50-60% through vasodilation.

Minimally Invasive SpineCare® strives to be on the forefront of the advancement of medicine for the sake of their patients. It is the full understanding of the importance of the discovery, and practice, of unlocking the body’s secrets to heal itself, and using the adult stem cell treatment approach, that allows them to do so. In this process, called adult (mesenchymal, multipotent) stem cell therapy, the patients’ own stem cells are harvested from bone marrow and adipose tissue to allow for the healing and regenerating process for both minimally invasive surgical and non-invasive procedures. Adult stem cell therapy is used in treating the injured, damaged, or painful areas due to aging or degeneration in the spine, knees, hips, shoulders, feet and ankles. Once injected, they function as the building blocks for tissue re-growth and increased blood flow to the ailing areas. The goal of the treatment is to replace damaged cells and to promote the growth of new blood vessels and tissues in order to help the target organ function at a largely improved capacity. The risk of rejection by the patient’s body is virtually non-existent, since the adult stem cells received are directly from the patient. Minimally Invasive SpineCare® uses a highly advanced method of extracting the adult stem cells from the patient, and recycling them in their own bodies without manipulation during the procedure. This process makes our stem cell treatment safe, ethical, and effective in fulfilling positive medical outcomes. It is important to note that adult stem cell therapy is not controversial because it involves the use of a patient’s own blood and is NOT derived from embryos.

At Minimally Invasive SpineCare ®(MISC), patients find the most minimally invasive answers to their back and neck pain problems. For some patients, this means no cutting at all. When possible, the physicians and surgeons at MISC initially use the least invasive treatments to help patients manage their back and neck pain. Only when noninvasive procedures are ruled out do they begin considering minimally invasive surgical treatments as necessary options for painful back and neck conditions. Services include pain mapping and other diagnostic services, adult stem cell therapy, surgical procedures, non-surgical treatments, and chiropractic and physical therapy.

At Minimally Invasive SpineCARE®, a comprehensive list of spine procedures is custom tailored to each and every patient’s exact condition without taking a one-size-fits-all approach to surgeries that are so life changing. With the ability to treat pain through tiny incisions, in many cases, patients experience only local anesthesia, day surgery, and a Band-Aid® for healing—resulting in less recovery time, trauma, blood loss, and scarring.

The physicians at MISC are trained spine specialists—fellowship-trained and educated in the most innovative, minimally invasive techniques in the medical field. As leaders and innovators, the Minimally Invasive SpineCARE® doctors are continually pushing the field of minimally invasive spine care with evidence-based medicine and are pioneering the techniques for many others in the field of spine care.
