The Return of Medical House Calls!

Indianapolis North & Indianapolis South LIVING WELL Magazines

Childhood, career, marriage, children, grandchildren and where did the years go? Then before we can really ponder too many details, we enter a new stage of life. Often, this stage brings a variety of new questions about healthy living and healthcare for our loved ones and ourselves. More than ever, we want to feel safe and secure about such important decisions.

Helpful answers lie in the primary care practice MD2U. Tammy Crace Browning opened MD2U in Indianapolis because she believes everyone deserves comprehensive medical care even if they are unable to actually visit a doctor’s office.

The leader in medical house calls, MD2U offers  physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners who visit patients of all ages in their homes, assisted living facilities, or senior adult housing to manage acute and chronic medical problems.

“We will work with your existing primary care physicians or assume primary care responsibilities based on the patients’ needs and wishes,” explains Browning, managing partner and physician assistant for MD2U Indianapolis. She and her staff work with various health care agencies to provide physical, occupational and speech therapies in addition to nursing services. X-rays, lab tests, and other diagnostic studies can be performed in the home as well.

“If patients have a mobility limitation or some health problem that puts them at risk to travel to and from a doctor’s office, Medicare will usually pay for home visits,” says Browning.

The primary goal of MD2U is “to help people age with dignity and grace,” Browning emphasizes, “while helping their family or caregivers stay informed and require less time away from their own productive lives.”

MD2U was founded in 2004 by Dr. J. Michael Benfield and originated in Louisville, Kentucky. Browning  expanded services to the Indianapolis area in 2009.
