Saving on prescriptions

Saving on prescriptions

Indianapolis South LIVING WELL Magazine

It is very important that we all shop for the best prices on our prescription drugs. Even with insurance, we all have to pay out some of our own money for most medicines. Where you get them could save you a lot of money!

Low Cost RX buys our products from wholesalers who buy them from the manufacturers. There is no rhyme or reason to the pricing that wholesalers pay to the drug manufacturers. Adding to this inconsistent market is that wholesale companies strike different deals with different retailers on the same drugs every day. This is why Low Cost RX shops every product that we buy independently for the best price. We then pass this savings and best deals on to our customers.

Bill Shinkle, manager of Low Cost RX, personally makes these deals every day. Although a lot of his time is spent on this, he can insure that his customers are receiving the best possible market price for their prescriptions. This is the kind of service that is offered by small, independent pharmacies. When pricing your prescriptions with the big box stores, keep in mind the old adage that bigger is not better. In recent surveys the small, individually-owned pharmacies have repeatedly been less expensive across the board compared to the big box stores.

We encourage you to investigate savings plans thoroughly. Some big box store pharmacies offer discounts on certain generics. Obviously, this is not a profit center for them; therefore they need to make money somewhere else. Due to this, quite often, all of the other pharmaceuticals that they sell are priced higher than at a smaller, independent pharmacy. Our average customer takes more than one prescription medicine, not just the low priced advertised generic, resulting in a total greater savings with us!
