Josh Cates, Founder & CEO

LIVING WELL Magazine began as a passion—a passion that has grown since the very first issue was published. Founder & CEO Josh Cates has continually devoted energy and effort to improving the quality, content and design with each new issue. Prior to launching LIVING WELL Magazine, Cates owned & operated Unlimited Care of North Texas, a 24-hour non-medical home care agency.  After 10 years in the business and caring for more than 500 families, Cates recognized the need for a quality publication for those 50 and older in his hometown of Denton, Texas. Prior to publishing the first issue and throughout the first year of LIVING WELL Magazine’s life, several advisory boards comprised of hospital directors and select advertisers were formed to aid the publication in reaching its full potential. These boards provided input on content, look and feel, cover story ideas and overall focus. Additionally, several focus groups were also formed from current readers to get their input on relevant topics and issues.

With input from each local community and the wisdom of many prominent companies, LIVING WELL Magazine directed it’s focus on producing a magazine that would truly serve the interests of its readers and each community it served.

Today, LIVING WELL Magazine prints magazines in 17 local communities in 10 states: Arizona – Scottsdale; Colorado – Colorado Springs & East Denver; Indiana – North & South Indianapolis; Iowa – Cedar Rapids; Louisiana – Baton Rouge, Northshore and New Orleans; Missouri – Springfield; Ohio – Akron; Oklahoma – Texoma Area; Texas – Collin County, Denton County, North Dallas, and Tarrant County & Utah – Salt Lake City. The company’s total production has now increased to over One-Million magazines annually. One key to the success of each publication has been identifying the local resources and professionals available to readers and then pairing their advertisements with informative articles written by those very professionals. Another key to their success has been listening to the reader’s feedback in each community and adjusting the content of each magazine to fit their interests. This, along with the advertising and distribution support of major hospitals in each publication’s area, has resulted in meeting a very important need in the communities served.

Each market continues to be so well received by readers and advertisers that Josh Cates explored ways to expand LIVING WELL Magazine into more communities. Deciding that franchising was the best way, Cates is excited about the opportunity to continue increasing awareness for seniors and their families as LIVING WELL Magazine continues to grow and publications in new locations become a reality.
