How often, when we ask people who they are do they respond by telling us where they work or what kind of work they do? For example, “My name’s Jane. I teach fifth grade at Miller Middle School.” Or “My name’s Jack. I’m an artist.” Where we work, and the type of work we do, not only identifies who we are, but it also identifies our place in society.
