There Will Be Miracles

There Will Be Miracles

By Michelle Wallace

Daniel Thai and his wife, Thao, were expecting their first baby. A sonogram revealed it was a boy. They chose his name, Christopher Quy’ Thien. But tests also revealed something wasn’t right. According to the doctor’s report, Christopher had been affected by a flu Thao contracted when she was 16 weeks pregnant. Worst-case scenario, Chris would be born without a brain and live as a vegetable. Best case, he would be missing only part of his brain.

Daniel texted, “We thank you for your prayers. Above all, we know that God has a plan, and it’s a perfect plan for us. My life has been full of miracles and I strongly trust that God will continue doing good for me.”

One month before delivery, the reports were still the same. In a letter to family and friends Daniel continues to share his faith. A faith that sounds a lot like the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they came under the threat of being thrown into a blazing fire. “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” Daniel 3:17,18 Daniel writes, “We give thanks to the Lord who has formed our son in Thao’s womb. It has been eight months and we are so looking forward to seeing our son.”

“We have spent our lives to serve and follow God, we’ve been through so many challenges; but this is a real test for us, to completely trust Him. We speak healing over our son, knowing that God has the power to do the impossible. If my son is born normally, we praise Him. If our son is not as normal, we also praise Him and accept Christopher to our lives. We choose to accept everything God brings to us. He surely has a plan.”

“He will not be afraid of evil tidings;

His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord”

-Psalm 112:7

On July 3, 2017, Christopher made his way into this world, a happy, healthy and whole baby boy. Daniel writes, “Meet my precious Christopher Quy’ Thien. Today we witnessed a miracle, today we have seen God’s love, mercy and power. What a mighty God we serve!”

Meanwhile, halfway across the world, in San Antonio, Texas, another Daniel and his wife Jannelle, were expecting a baby girl. Her name would be Eden Raine Villarreal. The Villarreal’s have one daughter, Vivian. Last year brought a devastating blow when their son was still born.

Daniel writes, “At the beginning of 2017, after dealing with the still birth of our son Jude at 21 weeks, my wife, Jannelle, began 2017 with a BOLD word in her spirit. She said, ‘This is going to be a year of miracles.’ It was a word we embraced as a family. Shortly after that, we moved into a new house, and the only decorating request she had for me, was to hang a metal sign over our fireplace, engraved with the words, ‘There will be miracles’.”

Shortly after that, we found out we were pregnant again. Eden Raine is a miracle, (Born July 10th, at 31 weeks.) and now my wife lies sedated in need of multiple miracles herself. Her kidneys and liver not functioning, needing a breathing mask, sedated, batting blood infection among other things. A full-scale assault on her body has happened.”

Jannelle suffered from a rare and severe form of pre-eclampsia. After Eden’s birth she was rushed to another hospital as a life saving measure. Daniel continues, “Yesterday, I was praying for my wife in her current condition. As I prayed, I envisioned God taking this situation from the enemy, and using this evil attack against Jannelle, to usher in something new that will impact San Antonio, Grace Avenue Church, (where Daniel and Jannelle pastor) and people all around the world. It would stir a hunger in people to know the God we serve, the God of miracles. Later at 1 a.m., as I laid down to sleep, I felt the Holy Spirit say to initiate “Prayer from every nation.” I won’t dissect that, I’ll simply be obedient. My goal, in this very moment of her life, seemingly hanging in the balance, is to initiate prayer happening in every nation around the world for miracles in Jannelle’s life and body.”

Through various forms of media Daniel’s plea went global. The worldwide response in prayer was overwhelming. In Vietnam Daniel Thai got the report and committed to pray. In a TV news interview Daniel shares his faith. “I’ve seen the miraculous happen in other peoples lives. I know what God can do, I know what’s possible. And I also know there’s amazing doctors out there and amazing nurses doing their due diligence to make things happen.” After Eden’s birth, both she and Janelle were at risk of dying. Daniel continues, “So I cried out to God and I remember telling God, ‘Whatever happens, I trust you.’”

While things initially got worse, little by little there was improvement. Jannelle is a miracle in the making. One month after Eden Raine’s birth, mommy and daughter were reunited as Janelle was strong enough to be transferred. Daniel explains, “Even when it seems hopeless, there’s still hope. Even when it seems like there is no possibility of things turning around, with God everything is possible.”
