Amanda Hoelscher, O.D. was born and raised outside Oklahoma City in El Reno, Oklahoma. Dr. Hoelscher performed her undergraduate studies in Nutrition at the University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Science in Vision Science at University of Houston. She graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry and earned her postgraduate certification as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.
Dr. Hoelscher is board certified by the American Board of Optometry and the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease by the International Association of the Board of Examiners in Optometry. She completed her Clinical Externships at the Eye Care and Surgery Center in Dallas and the Colorado Optometric Center in Denver, Colorado. She served as a co-investigator for the FDA in LASIK. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, and is a member and has served as Past President of the Dallas County Optometric Society. She currently serves with the American Board of Optometry where she writes and reviews test questions for the board.
Dr. Hoelscher is extensively trained in preoperative and postoperative management of cataract and refractive surgery including LASIK, EVO ICL, multifocal, extended depth of focus and accommodating lens implants. She has an interest in treating advanced dry eye and is often asked to speak on the subject. She performs comprehensive dilated eye examinations for diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, corneal disease, and diabetic retinopathy. She resides in University Park has 2 grown children and has a fondness for pugs.
