Jeffrey Whitman, M.D., President and Chief Surgeon of the Key-Whitman Eye Center, was born in Dallas, attended Hillcrest High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University. He earned his M.D. at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and also completed his internship at the same institution. Dr. Whitman completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at Scott and White Clinic in Temple, Texas. Dr. Whitman is married and the proud father of two daughters as well as 5 grandchildren.
Dr. Whitman is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also one of a few physicians in North Texas to be board certified in both Cataract surgery and LASIK by the American Board of Eye Surgeons. Dr. Whitman is a recipient of the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award. He is a past President of the American College of Eye Surgeons and the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Whitman has been asked to serve on the boards of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society, American College of Eye Surgeons, and the Society for Excellence in Eyecare. He is a Clinical Correspondent for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and past President for the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society.
He has been named as “Best Ophthalmologist” in D Magazine for over 20 years as well as a Best Ophthalmologist in Texas by Texas Monthly.
