"Whole Person" focus at Azalea Estates – LIVING WELL Magazine

“WHOLE PERSON” FOCUS AT AZALEA ESTATES

By Linda Timberlake, Executive Director, Azalea Estates, Northshore LIVING WELL Magazine

The staff of Azalea Estates is so very proud to be celebrating 15 years of service in Slidell to our special seniors who have joined our family by making Azalea Estates their home. It has been my pleasure and that of our Executive Assistant, Patti Guidry, to have started this journey over 15 years ago as we opened the first assisted living and retirement community in Slidell. With a combined  85+ years of experience, our staff continues to care for our residents with compassion, enthusiasm and commitment.

As assisted living communities have increased all over the state in the last 15 years, the general population has become better informed about services and amenities offered. However, our mission extends further than most as we concentrate on overcoming the many day-to-day frustrations that our residents can face in any aspect of their lives. That peace of mind is priceless.

Azalea Estates of Slidell goes well beyond the basics and has taken a unique approach to resident care as we have developed our services to adapt to our ever-changing resident population. We believe that although many residents choose to live here because of similar circumstances, each person is a defined individual with varying challenges and needs. Consequently, at Azalea Estates, we follow the “whole-person” approach of care to include the physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents.

With all of these dimensions in mind, our activity schedules include exercise classes six days a week, shopping, personal errands, Catholic and non-denominational services, Bible study, interactive games, reading groups, spectator events, large and small group activities and educational programs.

Recently, we added our respite care-short term stay of five days or more and test drive-trial residency programs to better accommodate our seniors and potential residents.  Please call or come by to visit at your convenience for a tour and a complimentary lunch.  We are so very proud of our community and always enjoy having guests.
