Assisted living communities have increased all over the country in the last ten years, which has provided much needed housing and special care for our senior citizens. As the population has come to know about services and amenities offered in assisted living communities, it is expected to at least find housekeeping, laundry, meals and transportation available. At Azalea Estates, we offer those services included in the monthly rental rate in order to provide all residents the opportunity to take advantage of these amenities without unanticipated additional charges.
Azalea Estates of Slidell goes well beyond the basics and has taken a unique approach to resident care as we have developed our services to adapt to our ever-changing resident population. We believe that although many residents choose to live here because of similar circumstances, that each person is a true individual with varying challenges and needs. Consequently, at Azalea Estates we follow the “whole-person” approach of care to include the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents.
With all of these dimensions in mind, our activity schedules include exercise class six days a week, shopping twice a week (including trips to Walmart), personal errands, devotional and Bible study, in-house non-denominational Sunday School with monthly Communion, Rosary every Friday, Mass monthly, Bingo, Pokeno, educational presentations, reading group, menu and activity planning with residents and staff, sing-a longs, weekly happy hour on Friday afternoons, musical entertainment, board and card games for smaller groups, trips to local restaurants, and the Slidell Little Theatre and the Casino on the Gulf Coast. We are always eager to try new group activities that especially stimulate the mental and physical aspects of our residents’ health, such as Penny Pitch, PIP, Out the Box, and You Be the Judge, to name a few.
Recently we have added our Respite Care and Test Drive programs to better accommodate our seniors and potential residents. Please call or come by, at your convenience, for a tour and a complimentary lunch. We are so very proud of our community and always enjoy having guests.
