The City of Overland Park is proud to offer two of the region’s best public golf clubs, the St. Andrews Golf Club and the Sykes/Lady Overland Park Golf Club. This year, the Overland Park Golf Division, and our two golf clubs, has undergone numerous changes with you in mind. We’ve gone to great lengths to earn your business, and are truly committed to providing our surrounding communities with the finest golf value in the Kansas City metropolitan area. St. Andrews Golf Club has been renovated twice in just the last five years, and should now be considered one of the best layouts in the metro. The Pro Shops have been updated to allow for easier shopping, and both courses are continually some of the best maintained in the region.
On Nov. 1, 2011, the City of Overland Park selected MGMCO, Inc. to run clubhouse operations for Overland Park and St. Andrews Golf Clubs. MGMCO is headed by former St. Andrews General Manager Curt Nelson. He has assembled a highly talented and professional staff that is second to none in Kansas City. Many of the professionals Nelson has recruited have come from some of the top clubs in the area. These professionals have been a driving focus to make the Overland Park Golf Division the best place for you and your family to spend your time. I am thrilled to have Nelson and his team here for what is sure to be an exciting time for the Golf Division. Some of the changes that have occurred already include the following:
- Pro Shops – Fully stocked and will meet or beat any local prices on current models.
- The “OP Way” – A new customer care program designed by golf professionals steeped in private club experience and solely focused on making your experience truly outstanding.
- The University of Golf! – New, cutting edge instructional programs and teaching aids developed by one of the most accomplished PGA Professionals in the region.
- Outstanding golf course conditions – Led by over 50 years of experience, and a passionate team of professionals.
- Grill and Pub – Enhanced menu options made with fresh, local, high-quality ingredients. The menus were designed specifically to fit you and your family’s needs.
- Elimination of the Non-Resident Patron Fee – Non-residents pay the same as residents!
- New Website – golfop.com – Enhanced to make your experience better.
We are committed to doing our part to keep pace of play at acceptable levels by implementing new course marshal programs, increasing to 9-minute tee times, and significantly changing our foursome/fivesome policies. We have more trained marshals on the course than ever before, and their sole responsibility is to gently maintain an appropriate pace of play. We’ve reduced the number of fivesomes on the golf courses, as these primarily exist for those who book as a group of five. Singles will only be paired with four on weekend mornings, and during teardrop times.
