There is a place in Plano where smiles come from deep within. These are soulful smiles; they reflect life lived well and familial love.

The place is Whitmore Dental. More important than its location is the dental team lead by Dr. Marcus Whitmore.

“People tell us we are different from any other doctor’s office they have visited,” says Dr. Marcus Whitmore. “It’s music to my ears.”

Whitmore and his team have a practice mission founded on three philosophical principles: clear communication, dedication to ethical care, and patient empowerment through education.

First, the ‘Global Communication’ approach to care means Whitmore and his team make time to listen to patients at each visit, and communicate about treatment with patients and each other to ensure clarity and comprehension by all.

Second, Whitmore and the team believe in ‘Principles Over Profits.’ They only recommend treatments best suited for patient health, even if their recommendations mean the practice makes no money. Each dental care solution is tailored to the patient receiving care and not anyone else.

Third, the ‘Patients as Partners’ ideology empowers patients with information. Whitmore and his team partner with patients to teach best home care practices, provide preventative options, and recommend treatment suited to patient needs.

Whitmore’s patients notice.

“I visited several offices before I chose Dr. Whitmore,” says Facelift Dentures patient, Linda Stephens. “If all doctors were like Dr. Whitmore, and had teams like his, we wouldn’t have problems with healthcare.”

For Stephens the difference was clear and her experience life-changing.

“I trusted Dr. Whitmore right away; I mean complete trust,” she says.

Before proceeding with her Facelift Dentures, Stephens visited five other dental offices. She faced a lot of emotion, and talked with her family about her choices. She spoke with Whitmore and his staff about choices too.

“I knew there were four infected teeth that needed to be removed,” she recalls. “I was not excited about having teeth removed and Dee Dee at Dr. Whitmore’s knew it. She was so compassionate toward me. Dee Dee talked with me about my health and held my hand. When I learned how much better I would feel, I made the decision to go ahead and improve my oral health.”

Health is a big theme for Whitmore. Many patients come to him with cosmetic goals and talk about having the perfect looking smile.

“Everyone wants a beautiful smile and we make smiles beautiful here,” says Whitmore. “Most importantly, healthy smiles are beautiful smiles.”

Before he places Facelift Dentures, dental implants, veneers, crowns and other dental restorations, Whitmore and his team talk with patients about goals for lasting health. Using their years of experience, training in the latest dental techniques and understanding of the patient’s goals for care, Whitmore and the team design treatment custom-fit to patient needs.

Stephens echoes this process when sharing her experience.

“The whole team at Dr. Whitmore’s office understands what you are going through,” says Stephens. “They explain everything. They call you to follow up. It’s really great and it’s very different.”

Like a quarter of senior Americans, Stephens needed full teeth replacement.

Whitmore is one of the first dentists in the nation to be trained in and offer new denture technology called Facelift Dentures. Facelift Dentures are made to provide patients with greater underlying support. The result for most is improved chewing function, a better fit, and enhanced facial features because Facelift Dentures fill out the face more precisely than traditional dentures.

“There is something about the way Dr. Whitmore measures your mouth and takes everything about your face into consideration,” says Stephens. “I look at my old pictures and the pictures of what I look like now and think ‘why did I wait so long?’”

Stephens says the Facelift Dentures experience motivated her to make healthy changes. Since getting Facelift Dentures a few months ago she has lost 25 pounds.

“Facelift Dentures from Dr. Whitmore put me on the road to recovery,” she says with a smile. “They helped change my attitude and improved my self-esteem. Nobody knows I have false teeth. I’m proud to smile.”
